Author: Naumenko, Maria
A heart warming and simply written life of one of twentieth century Orthodoxy's greatest saints. St. John the Wonderworker was born at the end of the Russian Empire and was forced to flee his homeland. Finding a monastic calling, he taught in seminaries and schools, always inspiring his students with his own love for God and his Saints. Despite considering himself unworthy, he was consecrated a bishop and served his Orthodox flock in China with great compassion and love. Constantly helping the orphans and poor, St. John gave no thought to his own needs. Eventually assigned to San Francisco, he continued his missionary work, affecting all who met him. Suitable for elementary age and older, it is well illustrated with pen and ink drawings.
