Author: Saint Nektarios Greek Orthodox Monastery (editor)
The Mother of God was, is, and will continue to be the Unrivaled Protectress of Christians. The introductory chapter by Saint Nektarios, the selected fifteen miracles of the Salvation of Sinners, and Saint Nektarios' closing ode to the Ever-Virgin contained in the small, full color booklet, will set the reader's heart aflame with reverence and love for, and fill it with hope in the Queen of Heaven and earth.

The Hesychasterion was alerted about 'The Unrivaled Protectoress' as a possible companion to your 'cell psalter', "A Psalter For Prayer - Pocket Edition." We find that it can function well as a sort of Theotokarion in the original sense of the term, in that it includes both prayers and reflections (which should lead to prayers of praise and gratitude for the Theotokos, and of more intimate communion.) It, like the 'cell psalter,' is compact; and allows as noted with the psalter, to be read when hesychasm becomes difficult to maintain; or is good for 'supply clergy' on the run, or for laity during lunch breaks or at the end of an over-wrought day. We hope that the publisher decides to develop two editions - a more sturdier companion to your psalter for more regular use; and also keeping the current edition so as to encourage its wider familiarity among English speakers at such a reasonable price. On a subway, the cover itself on lap, with psalter in hand, acts as a 'travel icon'. It is also a gem - with the cell psalter - for disabled monastics, clergy and laity who must sit while praying and need to simplify prayer-forms. As we Orthodox become more 'confined' in a culture of secularism, these wisely created flowers of Orthodoxy keep prayer and a focus on True Beauty alive; and this one in particular, to encourage devotion to and trust in the Most Holy Protection.
