The monks who came to Holy Trinity Monastery from Eastern Europe after World War II inherited a tradition of printing that stretches back almost to the invention of the printing press in the fifteenth century. Through the fathers’ tireless efforts, the monastery has been printing and publishing Orthodox Christian books for over sixty years. At first, these books were sold from a table in the monastery office to pilgrims, visitors, and churches all over the world. During the dark years of the Soviet Union, the monastery played an integral role in keeping the Orthodox Faith alive amidst stark oppression. Even today, many Russian clergy and faithful remember the days when the only Orthodox books they could get their hands on were Jordanville publications.
When the monastery building was extended in 1990 a dedicated bookstore was opened and books, music, and icons from other publishers were also offered for sale (Please take a look at the photos of our bookstore, below). In 2008, we began a process of modernizing and streamlining our operations in order to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. Now, in the summer of 2010, we’ve launched our own web store, which offers a wide range of titles that reflect the fullness of the Orthodox Christian Faith and will be of spiritual benefit to all who read or listen to them. We also recently launched a distinct website dedicated to the monastery's own publications, which offers a wealth of information about each title and supports wholesale orders (http://www.holytrinitypublications.com).
We have a lot more plans for the future, which will come to fruition with your help, patronage and prayers. And with all these changes we still maintain a full bookstore on monastery grounds that is open seven days a week as shown on our home pages. We welcome a steady stream of visitors and hope to one day count you among them.
