For the first time a selection of St John's Lenten sermons is presented in English translation. They follow the thematic structure of the Lenten season in the Orthodox Church, from the Sunday of the Publican and the Pharisee through to Great and Holy Friday. A sermon for St Thomas Sunday, that follows Holy Pascha, is offered as an Epilogue. To order the Kindle edition click here.

Anything written by Saint John has value and the organisation of this book makes it especially easy to read during lent, a good companion together with the Ladder of Climacus during lent season!

I used St John's words for my own edification, then decided to share with my Parish. Most all stated that his words were what they needed to hear at the time. A wonderful collection of Lenten Homilies during this season of Repentance.

I love this book so much that I have ordered it twice, having given it to a friend and fellow convert so he could profit from it right away for Lent. St. John of Kronstadt says things that get right to the core of our spiritual issues - reminiscent of the Scriptures themselves. Just to read his insights into the Pharisee and the Publican is a humbling and therapeutic experience.
Can't wait for my second copy to arrive! I hope that Holy Trinity Publications will consider translating more of this wonderful batiushka-saint's homilies into English, right alongside the priceless treasure known as My Life in Christ. There's got to be a reason why I tend to give copies of St. John's work away to others that don't have them yet....

St. John of Kronstadt urges us to make the most of Lent by recognizing our need for, and acting on our individual repentance. He reminds us that the Church's medicine is found in its sacraments and in the father's instruction passed down to us in each week of the Lenten season.
This little book is packed with St. John' s homilies taken from each week of the Lenten season. Some of the Lenten Sundays have more than one homily. It is interesting to see how he transmitted to his flock various views of each week's topic.
If you are looking for a Lenten resource, you will surely be glad to learn from this one.

This volume represent a compendium of St. John of Kronstadt's sermons for great Lent. His deep knowledge of the appointed lessons come through clearly, as do his God-given pastoral insights. The clarity of his expositions are as fresh as if they had been written yesterday.
Highly recommended.
